Surgical Endoscopy Reprocessing Specialist Course

Target Audience

This course is intended for Operating Room and Outpatient Clinic Nurses, Managers, Reprocessing Technicians, MDRD personnel and other key stakeholders.

Course Overview

It’s important for healthcare personnel overseeing or performing reprocessing of endoscopes to have a thorough understanding of the steps required to ensure the endoscope is safe and patient ready. This one-day course will provide participants with an overview of the procedure and recommendations for reprocessing Olympus flexible, rigid and semi rigid surgical endoscopes such as cystoscopes, intubation scopes etc. It will also provide information on the proper care and handling of these endoscopes to minimize damage and reduce repairs. Participants will learn to recognize the important processes required for precleaning, leakage testing, manual cleaning, high level disinfection, sterilization and storage. An overview of endoscope mechanics and nomenclature of endoscopes will also be discussed. Reprocessing demonstration will be provided for commonly used Olympus surgical endoscopes and accessories.

This course is recognized by the Canadian Standards Association for Continuing Education (CE) hours towards recertification as a CSA CMDRT.
