This course is intended for Endoscopy and OR Managers, Nurses, Educators, Reprocessing Technicians, Biomedical Engineers, MDRD personnel and other key stakeholders.

Course Overview

Typically, endoscope repairs are related to incorrect handling and reprocessing techniques. Preventative maintenance coupled with careful handling and proper use is the best ways to prevent damage, deterioration, patient injury and equipment failure and to extend the lives of instruments. Proper care and handling and reprocessing techniques, knowledge of repair cause and frequency, tracking and trending of endoscope damages and OEM repairs can minimize the costs associated with your endoscope investment. An effective repair reduction program will help to reduce repair cost and increase the longevity and performance of your endoscope inventory.

Learning Objective

  • Discuss most common causes for endoscope repairs and how they can be avoided.
  • Discuss the relationship of endoscope handling, reprocessing and common repairs.
  • Identify strategies to avoid endoscope damage and reduce repair cost in your facility.
  • Gain understanding of how to implement a Repair Reduction Program.
  • Learn OEM recommendations and best practices for care, handling and preventative maintenance of your endoscope inventory.
  • Gain knowledge on the importance of repair frequency and learn how to use tools to track and trend repairs and determine repair cost per case.
