Course Overview

ERCP is a technically challenging therapeutic procedure. The course will focus on the relevant pancreaticobiliaryanatomy and physiology, indications for ERCP, devices used during the procedure, the nurses role, and the teamwork necessary for successful performance of ERCP, complementing didactic instruction with hands-on practice with ERCP devices/accessories.

Learning Objective

  • Identify the role of nurses and associates involved with ERCP procedures.
  • Review the gastrointestinal anatomy and physiology related to ERCP.
  • Demonstrate proper procedure room set-up for the ERCP procedures.
  • Hands-on demonstration of the proper use of ERCP accessories used for wire exchanges, stent placement, mechanical lithotripsy, stone removal, and balloon dilatation.

Certification

Nurses may claim this course for 7 hours of continuous learning (CL) activity.
