Course Overview

Today’s healthcare environment challenges organizations to balance cost containment with quality care. In order to survive and thrive in this atmosphere, endoscopy managers, nurses and clinicians must combine clinical expertise with business skills. This educational course presents an overview of topics on best practice models and is designed for those who want to more effectively manage their resources and outcomes, while maintaining quality patient care.

Purpose Statement

This formal educational activity has been developed in response to managers, nurses, and technicians who have expressed a need to update their clinical knowledge while maintaining quality patient care. Attendees will be presented with current information that will support GI unit operations and infection control.

Learning Objective

  • Lean Methodology & The 5S Principles that focus upon the effective organization and standardization of workplace processes. Implementing lean methodology principles will provide operational efficiency, patient safety and satisfaction and financial outcomes.
  • GI Benchmarking, which uses qualified sources for comparative analysis of outcomes and various performance metrics to establish best practices.
  • Effective Staffing, Scheduling and Budgeting practices will provide business tools for effective Nursing Leadership and improve efficiencies.
  • New advancement and future GI technology/procedure.
  • Certification

    Nurses may claim this course as 7 hours of continuous learning (CL) activity toward renewal of their CNA certification credential if it is related to their nursing specialty. Preauthorization from the CNA Certification is not required. Participants are encouraged to retain a confirmation of attendance.
